Shutters for Living Room Windows and Patio Doors near Yeovil
Perfectly suiting the contemporary look they were trying to achieve, we recently installed several shutters for a couple in Tintinhull, near Yeovil. Their choices of minimal walls and modern furniture seemed like a good basis for stylish designs in their home, and shutters seemed like the obvious choice of window covering to finish their living room.
The picturesque village of Tintinhull, mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086 is home to many buildings constructed of the beautiful honey-coloured Ham Stone. It lies on the Fosse Way close to Yeovil and has a wonderful mixture on ancient, old and modern buildings.
After booking an initial free home appointment, we worked closely with our customers to help them choose the right shutters to suit the space. At our initial meeting, we carried out a detailed technical survey, as well as discussing colours, materials and style choices.
For the window, the couple settled on full height, as it suited their tastes and fitted in with the look they were trying to achieve. A centre tilt rod was chosen, in order to operate the louvres, and keeping in line with their sense of aesthetics.
In order to cover the large glass panel of their patio door, the couple chose to have a shutter installed on a bi-fold track system. Having louvres that can be tilted, rather than opaque blinds or curtains, means that the fading effect of the sun can be reduced without fully blocking out the natural light.
A mid-rail was added to the patio door shutter, to add extra stability based on the height of the panel, as well as increasing the light control options. The louvres at the top can be tilted independently of those at the bottom of the panel, helping get the light levels in their home to suit their tastes.
Bermuda was chosen as the material for both shutters, providing the versatility to match the couple’s design choices. They settled on Sea Mist as the colour, along with black hinges and hardware, based on personal preference, and creating a contemporary look for the shutters.
Crafted from painted MDF frames and panels, with ABS louvres, Bermuda is a sturdy material, making it a great choice for a busy room where the shutters need to be opened and closed on a regular basis.
This is what they had to say: “Excellent from start to finish. Simon offered excellent advice, a competitive price and a good install. The shutters keep the house warm at night, cool during the day and look fantastic.”
